In May of 2022, the Triangle MLS system merged with Longleaf Pine MLS to create a large multiple listing service that serves most of central North Carolina.
The Triangle MLS covers the Raleigh, Durham and surrounding areas and has historically covers up to 15 counties. Over 15,000 Realtors are members of the Raleigh Regional Association of Realtors and the Triangle Multiple Listing Service.
The Longleaf Pine MLS system brings an increase of inventory by 45% as it has added between 3,000 and 3,500 active listings to the database.
As Realtors from Raleigh to the Sandhills of North Carolina have widened the areas they service, this merger means that agents will not have to be members of multiple associations in order to market listings. The reach of the joint venture now provides access to over 18,000 Realtors and could grow larger with future mergers.
Nationally, the trend has been for MLS systems to join forces for reduction in overhead costs, providing better education and a wider demographic and geographic area.
Don’t be surprised if these mergers continue as the Rocky Mount Association of Realtors and the Wilson Board of Realtors could be prime candidates to join the ever-growing Triangle MLS system.
