In continuing to try to get a better understanding of AI systems, I have started exploring Bard AI from Google.

It took about 15 minutes to get all of the permissions in the administrative part of my Google account, but once I did, the access to Bard was simple. I bookmarked the page so I can go back to it.

When I logged onto it the first time, the Terms and Conditions were lengthy. If you are uncomfortable with “Big Brother” watching you, this may not be an app you want. It will be invasive as it learns from your writing style to develop a voice that sounds like the user.

The first couple of tasks I requested were hyperlocal and specific. Both of those prompts returned a message that Bard did not have enough information to formulate what I was asking it to create.

On the third try, the prompt I wrote was, “Write a 500 word essay about the town of Wake Forest, North Carolina.”

Here is what it returned:

Wake Forest: A Town with a Rich History and a Bright Future

Wake Forest is a town in Wake County, North Carolina, with a population of just over 30,000 people. It is located about 15 miles west of Raleigh, the state capital. Wake Forest is a charming town with a rich history, dating back to 1832 when it was founded as Wake Forest Institute, a Baptist-affiliated college. The college eventually became Wake Forest University, which is still located in the town today.

Wake Forest is a popular destination for people who are looking for a safe, family-friendly community with a strong sense of community. The town has excellent schools, a variety of parks and recreation facilities, and a vibrant downtown area with shops, restaurants, and cultural attractions.

One of the things that makes Wake Forest so special is its historic downtown district. The downtown area is home to a number of well-preserved 19th-century buildings, including the Wake Forest Town Hall, the Wake Forest College Chapel, and the Old Salem Museum & Gardens. The downtown area is also home to a number of shops, restaurants, and art galleries.

Another thing that makes Wake Forest a great place to live is its proximity to nature. The town is located just minutes from Falls Lake State Recreation Area, which offers a variety of outdoor activities, including boating, fishing, camping, and hiking. Wake Forest is also home to several other parks and green spaces, including the Wake Forest Arboretum and the William Peace Park.

Wake Forest is a growing town, and it is home to a number of businesses and industries. The town is also a popular destination for corporate headquarters, including those of Cisco Systems and Lenovo.

Wake Forest is a great place to live, work, and raise a family. It is a safe, friendly town with a rich history and a bright future.

Here are some additional facts about Wake Forest:

  • The town is named after the Wake Forest University, which was founded in 1834.
  • The town is home to the Wake Forest Golf Club, which is one of the oldest golf courses in the United States.
  • Wake Forest is home to the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre, which is a performing arts center that hosts a variety of concerts, plays, and other events.
  • The town is also home to the Wake Forest Farmers Market, which is held every Saturday from April to November.

If you are looking for a charming town with a rich history and a bright future, then Wake Forest is the perfect place for you.

One of the disclaimers for using Bard is, “Bard will not always get it right” as you can see in the photos below.

That is definitely true. The article references Wake Forest as having 30,000 people. That means the AI is using data that is at least 10 years old because the town was over the 30,000 population back in 2012. Current population is over 54,000.

It also just makes up that WF is the home to Cisco Systems and Lenovo which are actually located in RTP.

As with my experience with OpenAI’s ChatGPT, the AI is a great place to start but we must be VERY careful with what we share when it is written by AI.

If you have tried Bard, I would love to hear your experience in the comments below.
