Consumers are eager for energy savings promised by the tech and home security world. Here are a few things that we are seeing from new home builders:

Heating, cooling and indoor air quality is becoming more of a priority for homeowners. Trane has a new diagnostic system that sends HVAC data to dealers and allows them to know what is wrong before the homeowner calls for service. LG now has humidifiers controlled by apps and Levoit has air purifiers connected to their systems.

Companies that provide electrical services now have apps to track electricity usage. Some providers of electricity have adopted the technology to notify consumers of higher rates of usage beyond normal in the middle of a billing cycle.

New technology in plumbing allows pipes to send leak alerts and automatically shut off once detected. The use of voice controlled faucets to dispense an exact amount of water at a specified temperature is becoming more prevalent.

Appliances are also seeing advancements in technology. LG appliances can now receive software updates that add features while Samsung’s smart fridge has a touch screen to help with buying groceries, meal prep and much more.

Along with that, automated blinds, smart TVs and other similar technologies are seeing increases in usage as consumers get more comfortable with smarter products. In 2022, 35% of people over the age of 12 owned a voice activated speaker.

The question on everyone’s mind? Concerns over security and privacy are still holding many people back from going all in on these products.
